Red wine
Power and finesse are the hallmarks of the Jean Becker red.
Every effort has been made to achieve the quality of a great red wine. Made from our sunniest Pinot Noir grapes from the Froehn Grand Cru, it has been aged in oak barrels for 1 year.

Grape variety
100% Pinot noir

Vineyard
Blend of different parcels of the Grand Cru Froehn over 20 years old.
Planting density: 4500-5000 plants/ha.
Tillage: ploughing, composting, mowing. Treatments: Bordeaux mixture, sulfur, plant infusions and seaweed extracts.

Terroir
Grand Cru Froehn: a sunny, early-ripening terroir of Lias clay and marl with a limestone reaction, sprinkled with sandstone at the summit.

Winemaking
Harvested by hand. Sorting in the vineyard.
Harvested at optimum ripeness for making a long-keeping red wine.
Skin maceration for 10 to 15 days with daily pumping-over and trapping.
Implementation of the bleeding process: 10% extraction to increase wine concentration.
Aged in oak barrels for 1 year.

Tasting and gastronomy
The color is brilliant and dense. The nose is powerful and expressive on the fruit, with hints of cherry brandy. On the palate, the fruitiness is interesting, with good fluidity and silky, vanilla tannins.
