Category:

Semi-dry wine

Grape variety
100% Gewurztraminer

Vineyard
Old vines: 30 to 40 years
Planting density: 5000 plants/ha.
Tillage: ploughing, composting, mowing. Treatments: Bordeaux mixture, sulfur, plant infusions and seaweed extracts.

Terroir
Grand Cru Froehn: a sunny, early-ripening terroir of Lias clay and marl with a limestone reaction, sprinkled with sandstone at the summit.

Winemaking
Harvested by hand. Sorting in the vineyard. Direct pressing of whole grapes. No sulfur under the press. Natural sourdough. Aged on fine lees in oak barrels for 9 months, Burgundian style. We tapped it in oak barrels after settling. It only left its barrels for filtration in July and bottling. It has undergone malolactic fermentation.

Tasting and gastronomy
Attractive, thick golden color, the nose opens with toasty, woody notes. Powerful on the palate, but well structured thanks to the freshness of the Froehn. This wine is best drunk dry. This is a wine for laying down.

Guard
7 to 10 years
